Worldwide, self-employed are three times as likely as those employed full time for an employer to live on less than $2 per day. Large segments of the poorest places´ workforce are self-employed: Southeast Asia (41%), East Asia (39%), and sub-Saharan Africa (36%); in contrast to richer regions like EU (10%) or North America (7%).
