Russia's recent actions against Ukraine, most notably the annexation of Crimea, have resulted in several countries imposing economic sanctions against them. These countries are also some of Russia's top trading partners, including the EU, with which Russia has close economic ties (trade and financial sanctions are likely to hurt both sides). Sanctions include freezing of funds and economic resources.
