The fact that women get paid less than men is well known and maybe even assumed as cruel reality for the "fairer" sex. What's surprising is that this form of gender discrimination takes place even in the legal field, by the lawyers we hold responsible for upholding the law (mostly). Across the board, women lawyers earn less than male lawyers.
