Two decades ago, NAFTA was implemented with the hopes of bringing Mexico into a new commercial agreement with the United States and Canada, and stimulating their economy. However, poverty levels will tell a different story. Measures of extreme poverty (see purple line) are nearly identical in 2012 as they were in 1994.
