A strong majority of Americans believe they remain unswayed by the relatively recent phenomenon of social media marketing: 62% said social media influences have had "no influence at all" on their purchasing decisions. Of course, marketers are hoping we don't notice the effect they have on us. So are we really not influenced?
I wonder how many people are unknowingly influenced. We spend so much time using social media, I find it hard to believe there is little to no impact on purchasing decisions.
It would be interesting to see a chart displaying the findings of companies who actively use social media to advertise. Do companies think there is an effect? I bet they see considerable profit from social media advertising.
