Nearly twice as many fathers stay at home today as in 1989, and their reasons for doing so are changing just as fast. Fathers now represent 16% of all at-home parents, "up from 10% in 1989...This is in sharp contrast to stay-at-home mothers, [73%] of whom report that they are home specifically to care for their home or family."
