While the labor force has undergone dramatic changes in past decades, most Americans still maintain more traditional views on the role of each parent in respect to their work or childrearing responsibilities. Only 8% thought children with a stay-at-home father would be better off; in contrast, 51% believed they would be better off with their mother at home.
