No government spends more than 15% of its health budget on mental healthcare, and even there (England and Wales) this amounts to only 1% of GDP. Other countries spend less like in low-income countries. When we consider the huge impact of mental health on life satisfaction, these figures are disproportionately low when compared with other items of government expenditure.
