With the 2010 Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United, federal campaign contribution limitations on corporations were struck down as unconstitutional violations of the freedom of speech. Many view this as an unfounded extension of citizens' rights to corporate entities, allowing them undue influence on our political apparatus through utilization of their overwhelming economic power. Apparently, however, corporations are people too.
