Residents of Alaska report being satisfied with their standard of living more than those living in any other state. Close behind were North Dakota and Hawaii. Residents of Rhode Island, Maine, and West Virgina were most negative about their prospects. The index reflects residents' satisfaction with their current living standard and whether they feel their standard is improving or declining.
