Despite pressure from conservative groups, House Speaker, John Boehner allowed a vote to raise the debt ceiling on February 11. The resolution narrowly passed with most of the support coming from the democratic side of the aisle. Only 28 republicans voted to raise the debt ceiling and avoid a potential default.
