In recent years, average American workers' expectations for retirement have changed drastically, with far fewer anticipating enjoying a financially secure retirement, and as such, far more expecting to work past retirement age. Financial concerns stemming from the economic recession are being exacerbated by the long-term insolvency of Social Security and Medicare, both of which require immediate reform to remain sustainable.
