On November 1st, spending cuts will reduce the amount of food stamps available to Americans in need. The cuts are due to a failure to reinstate a temporary stimulus introduced in 2009. The amount of people qualifying for food stamps has increased due to lack of employment and rising food prices, a burden the Department of Agriculture struggled to handle.
