Some of the largest among food companies in the world are spending heavily in Washington state to block new requirements for labeling foods made with genetically modified organisms. If the measure, Initiative 522, passes, Washington would be the first state to require GMO labeling. Recent polling shows 93% of the American public thinks foods containing GMO ingredients should be identified.
