California recently became the third state in the US to pass a bill guaranteeing rights for domestic workers (after New York and Hawaii). It will benefit an estimated 200,000 domestic workers in the state, three quarters of whom are immigrants. However, it will only serve for three years, at which point the governor can choose to do away with it.
