While many conservatives in the Senate and, even more so, the House of Representatives have cited their constituents as basis for their opposition to immigration reform, in actuality a large majority of Americans of all ideologies support a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants. This includes non-hispanic whites, supposedly the demographic most hostile to allowing illegals to become citizens.
