Since 1982, there have been at least 62 mass shootings across the county. New data updated and published in the wake of the Navy Yard Shooting in Washington, D.C. shows that semi-automatic handguns were the primary weapon of choice in most cases. Of the 143 weapons used, 48 would be outlawed by the proposed Assault Weapons Ban of 2013.
