For the millions of Americans suffering from a disability, life in the land of opportunity can be difficult. Despite government safety nets and protections, the vast majority of disabled individuals are lacking in one important aspect of their lifes: a job. Not even one in five disabled Americans are able to procure employment.
I wonder what the split is between people with a disability that are actively searching for a job and are unsuccessful versus how many are choosing not to search anymore. And then from that demographic - why aren't they searching? Did they give up because they lost hope after many unsuccessful attempts or did they just never start because they felt like it was a lost cause to begin with? Either way, there is an issue present that needs major attention. It doesn't help either that it took up until 1990 to pass legislation on this issue.
