The White House has been engaged for years in top level negotiations with the Iranian government over the longstanding international dispute over Tehran's nuclear program. GOP senators made headlines this week with a letter they sent to Iran in which they asserted that any deal with Iran would last as long as Obama's presidency. A plurality of Americans believe this to be a major overstep into the power of the executive branch to negotiate with foreign governments. Unsurprisingly, the Obama administration and the Iranians have reacted negatively to the senators' brazen move.
