While the high rate of rape in the US military has recently garnered intense public attention, other epidemics such as domestic violence, child abuse, and suicides have remained neglected. Nearly 30,000 Army-family children have suffered abuse in the last decade. The spike from 2009-2012 (40%-increase) coincides with the return of thousands of troops following the end of combat in Iraq.
