The South and the Southwest are't anywhere to be seen on this list. However, since the South represents 38% of the U.S. population, it still has the biggest share of the total public radio audience (32%).
I can imagine that for many in the DC area, keeping up with the news - including via radio - is part of their job description given the concentration of federal workers, academics and NGOs.
