Running for Congress takes guts, determination, and money. Lots of money. In order to secure a seat, the average House Representative has to raise over 1.5 million dollars, while the average Senator needs to procure about seven times that amount! To put that into perspective, the price tag of a Senate seat is about 200 times an average household's yearly income.
