According to the World Health Organization there are four stages of HIV; the last of which is AIDS. A significant factor in the stage of infection is the quantity of lymphocytes present in the body. Specifically, the focus is on the lymphocyte CD4+. Less of these cells indicate a greater progression of the infection.
