According to a recent Gallup study, the percentage of Americans who struggled to afford food in the past year is at its lowest since Gallup started tracking the data in 2008. Respondents to the telephone interview were asked the following question: "Have there been times in the past 12 months when you did not have enough money to buy food that you or your family needed?". The researchers also found that Black and Hispanic respondents were more than twice as likely to report having struggled than White respondents, although, other variables besides race, may explain this variability.
