Does Higher Education Really Mean Higher Cost?

These 7 countries are considered to have the highest levels of education for college around the world. But what is wrong with this picture? American schools cost at least twice that of other nations, including private institutions. The costs listed for Ireland and Germany aren't even considered tuition fees, but rather a flat rate for enrollment where all costs there after are covered by the government. Australia even had free education until the 1990's, when they needed a little help subsidizing the fees with an enrollment charge. Why the difference for the same education?
