This is a human rights crisis, not a "cultural issue." 43% of Afghanistan's honor killings in the past two years were perpetrated by "unidentified" assailants. While the numbers are not exact, the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) reported that 240 honor killings occurred last year; judiciary institutions often blame the victims of rape for the crime and convict them, resulting in their "punishment". Statistics do not include domestic and other violence against women which is often hidden by victim's families, so quoted numbers may be significantly understated.
Thank you for calling it what it is; where are the "feminists" on this?
We need more "feminists" in the world - people to promote that title and stand up for women's equality rather than deride it.
