After the 2005 lockout, the NHL introduced two rules that led to an increase in goals. A zero-tolerance policy on any type of obstruction, especially in the offensive zone that led to a NHL record 5.85 power plays per game in 2006. Last year it was 3.27, lowest since 1967. The other was a reduction in the size of goaltender equipment that has also not been enforced. What are your suggestions to increase goal scoring? Will an increase in goals lead to an increase in popularity?
