A subcomponent of Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, the Emotional Health Index, found a significant difference between smokers and nonsmokers. The index makes inquiries into the amount of time an individual experiences such emotional engagements as 'smiling or laughing' or 'being treated with respect.'
