Here's a scary stat: birth control pills have a 9 percent failure rate as they're typically used. While 99 percent effective if taken every day at right around the same time, many women often miss a pill or get lax about the timing. Compare that to IUDs which, with no human error after implantation, are more than 99 percent effective.
