The disparity in median wealth ratios of whites compared to blacks and hispanics is the highest since the Census Bureau began publishing SIPP-estimates by race. Much of this surge is the result of lost home equity with the implosion of the housing market, in which over half of black and hispanic median wealth vanished, compared to 16% of white's.
