Film researchers James Cutting and Barry Salt compiled this data showing that films are cutting to different shots more frequently. It is a trend that has been happening since at least 1950.
Wow. I thought this was a more recent phenomena. Makes me wonder what the lower limit is.
Eventually movies will cut to a new scene every frame. ;-)
I feel a migraine coming on already.
