Arne Duncan’s latest gaffe highlights the critical inequities of federal education “reforms.” Reversing these trends will require policymakers to acknowledge that education alone cannot create perfect equity of opportunity. As more people with college degrees take jobs which they are overqualified for, it becomes clear that corporate education reform is not the social equalizer it was once thought to be.
