Sexual violence includes either completed, attempted, or threatened rape or sexual assault. These rates are declining for women aged 12 and older in the US. In 1995, women reported 556,000 cases of sexual violence. This decreased to 270,000 in 2010. However, completed rape or sexual assault made up more than 50% of the total rape or sexual assaults in 2010.
