In order for an activity to considered bribery by the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, a payment must be made with the purpose of receiving something of value. A study by the Law & Economics Center found that, by far, the primary purpose of such unscrupulous business practices is the stimulation of the firms' sales and revenue.
