Protestants previously accounted for a majority of the US population. However, their numbers have fallen significantly since the 1990s. Because of Latin American immigration, Catholic numbers have remained relatively steady. The only increase in presence has been among the unaffiliated. They have more than doubled and they began their increase in the 1990s.
