Avocados require much more water than other kinds of produce. But that's not all. Mother Jones reports that Avocados have the highest water impact in Chile, where rural populations have to compete with agriculture for water. And that's where the bulk of Avocado imports come from in the winter, when the U.S. growing season stops.
But oh man do I love peaches and avocados. Double drat!
