The number of first class letters sent peaked in 2001. Mail volume is down 36% since then, having fallen precipitously in the last seven years.

The USPS used to be a punchline when it came to efficiency & customer service. Now, letters seem to get where they're going quickly & efficiently. Is USPS customer satisfaction traveling an inverse line to the volume of mail processed?
