Americans' estimations of which technologies most affect their lives, and, thus, which they could least live without, has changed drastically even since 2006. Specifically, views on the necessity of televisions and landlines have drastically diminished, while the Internets' increased. Correspondingly, smartphone usage has skyrocketed to nearly two-in-three adults during this time; 60% use their cellphones to access the internet.
