Those who were in the job force in 2001 know that recession felt nothing like the 2008 recession. It wasn't a crash. It was barely a blip on the radar by comparison. Yet the jobs recovery from that dip took more than half as much time as the jobs recovery from 2008, a crash billed as The Great Recession with an accompanying decimation to the housing market.
