While the United States remains one of, if not the most powerful country in the world, Americans are largely conflicted over the place of their nation on a global scale. A small majority of Americans believe that the US should adopt a passive role in international politics by allowing other nations to deal with their own problems. Nearly 4 in 10 Americans, however, advocate that America should remain the world's policeman.
